FAQ

Answers to common questions

Does Abilityprotect Pest Control do the pest control work itself?

No. Abilityprotect Pest Control is a referral service, and that is the honest short answer. We pass your request to an independent provider in our network. That provider visits your home, inspects it, and does the treatment. Think of us as the handoff, not the crew. Referral, not repair. You decide whether to hire the provider after you see the estimate.

How do I choose an exterminator near me?

Compare, then decide. Get at least two written estimates if you can. Check that each one names the pest, the treatment method, the number of visits, and the total price. Ask whether follow-up visits are included. Ask what the provider does about entry points, not just the bugs you can see. Be wary of anyone who pushes you to sign on the spot. A good provider will let you think it over.

How quickly can someone come out for ants, mice or roaches?

It depends on the provider and on how busy they are. Many providers can respond quickly, but we can't promise a specific time. Request a callback to check provider availability, or send the estimate form and a provider will reach out. Rats in the walls or a wasp nest by the door usually deserve a faster call than a few ants.

What can I safely do myself before calling a pro?

Start with the small jobs. Wipe up crumbs, fix drips, store pet food in sealed bins, and take out trash often. Seal gaps around pipes with caulk or steel wool. Trim branches away from the roof. Stop there if you see signs of termites, rodents in walls, or bed bugs. Those need a trained provider. Seal it, then call.

How do I keep pests out when winter is cold and snowy?

Cold pushes mice, rats and insects indoors. Check your foundation, basement windows and door sweeps in the fall. Older stone and block foundations often have cracks. Seal them. Keep firewood off the wall and away from the house. Clear gutters so snowmelt drains away from the foundation. Damp wood and soil attract termites and carpenter ants.

Will homeowners insurance cover pest damage?

Often not. Most policies treat pests, rodents and termites as maintenance problems. Some policies may cover sudden damage that follows a covered event, so check your policy and ask your agent. Providers can often help document damage, such as photos and inspection notes, if you decide to file a claim. Keep copies of every report and invoice.

How much does residential pest control cost?

Prices vary by pest, home size and how bad the problem is. In the U.S., a one-time treatment for common pests often runs from about $100 to $400. Termite and wildlife jobs can cost much more. Bed bug treatment usually costs more than a basic spray. Always get a written quote that lists exactly what is included.

Is there any obligation when I request an estimate?

No. Sending a request is not a contract. A provider in our network will contact you, ask about the problem, and give you an estimate. You can say yes, ask more questions, compare with another quote, or walk away. No pressure and no surprises. The decision stays with you from start to finish.
